Don’t get the ‘hamp’ with me

Hey guys, after moving around so much, I have finally had the past week to my self to reflect and just be lazy basically.

Thank God that finally the Sun has decided to come out and entertain us in London. Wonder how long that will last?

Ok so, as much as I would love to tell you all about my trips and plans for the summer, I am dying to tell you about my new ‘crush’ and encounter (get your mind out of the gutters; it’s not what you think).

Last month, my friend was having a baby shower and I had to get a present, and as you would have thought, I am the worst at giving presents so I began to panic BUT then I came across B-Beauty Hampers on Facebook.

I added B-Beauty straight away and after lengthy and numerous conversations my prayers were answered as I finally decided on the ‘hamper’ I wanted.

I have never done this before but I decided to blog about this unique and smart discovery in the form of a young girl called Bukki; the CEO of B-Beauty Hampers.

My brief experience left me amazed with the professionalism, patience and friendliness of this ‘black girl’. I say this because it is a well known opinion of many that ‘black girls’ have attitudes and are not very well acquainted with the term ‘customer service’.

So I had to find out more about Bukki, CEO of B-Beauty Hampers. I was interested in how this concept was conceived and birthed.

So I asked, Bukki, why not designing or singing or modelling? How did this happen?

Bukki:

I started making hampers for family and friends just as gifts and got a good reception. I am quite a creative person and love making things look pretty and funky rather than your standard hamper with clear cellophane.

Apart from Facebook, where can we find you?

I am based in east London and have a lil workshop also known as the spare room lol...

What else do you do?

1st part of my business is B-Beauty Bespoke and creative hampers...what I do is create a gift that has a personal touch for the person...so that it stands out.

2nd is a touch of culture where I make and gift wrap items for traditional engagements & weddings.

I don’t really know what else to say”

My interest in this young lady is not purely based on her talents or attention to detail BUT her boldness to be different and stand out.

While most young ‘black girls’ are following the ‘herd of sheep’, Bukki dares to stand out and be an individual.

I believe she is a great example to our generation. An example that says you don’t have to sell your body or be in the lime light to ‘matter’ but your talents, merits and hard work alone can get you the recognition and respect you deserve.
